Liter of Light is a global, grassroots movement that uses inexpensive, readily available materials to provide high quality solar lighting to people with limited or no access to electricity. By drilling a hole in a rooftop and inserting a bottle filled with water and bleach, it is possible to highly refract light and illuminate a whole room without using any power source other than the sun. This system can also be uses to enhance other light sources (such as street lightning).
