Throughout her life, a woman uses an estimated 16800 disposable female hygiene products, which adds up to around 140 kilos of waste, resulting in 45 billion used hygiene products land on landfills each year worldwide. To tackle this issue, Noelani Rutz created the Ona Pad, a reusable, sustainable and healthy alternative for period products. Ona pads come in three different sizes depending on the strength of the person's blood flow, with a white or black inner layer. It avoids unnecessary bulkiness through a smart wrapping system that wraps around the underwear and secures the pad in place.
