From electricity consumption and use, to generation, transmission, and storage, our lives are energy rich, but our relationship with energy is threadbare; electricity is ethereal and distant, a number on a meter. This community-led project tries to change that relationship by making electricity tangible through the design prototyping of an energy generation and storage solution called a ‘Newton Machine’. By dropping a weight from an elevated point, its fall creates energy that can be harvested and stored, which makes it a very convenient solution for places with cliffs and mountains.
